We wanna thank everyone that put us on a show, invited us to their homes and/or came to the shows. Thanks a lot! It speaks for itself, but let’s repeat it one more time, without you all we can’t do these kind of things, so really, thanks a lot.

A big thank you goes out to Emiel as well. It was great to have someone with you making sure we had the right sound. One thing less to worry about. It didn’t hurt he’s an all-around good guy either. Check out his band Maaswater Veenlijk if you’re into stoner. You can thank us later.

And now? Back to work on the new record. We can’t wait to get back to writing mode and bust out some new jams. At the moment what we have is pretty diverse. No barriers, no constraints. Enough of those in this world of ours already. But we’ll see how it all shapes up.

PS > We’ve got some leftover tour merch put up in the online distro. There’s also some zines (Law & Order #3) and records (Upright / Foreseen split, Agent Attitude etc) we picked up on the road. Check it out.

We’re looking forward to hook up with Upright and go to those parts of the world that brought us Ikea, Nokia, Lego and more. Can you name all of them in the flyer?

Otherwise we’ll have a day off and we’ll be forced to enjoy those beautiful countries to the fullest. Don’t do that to us.

Anyway, it will be the 24st of March soon, so you better check out our releases at http://music.saidanddone.org and learn those words, so you can sing along. There are lyrics there, no excuses. We do advise to learn the tunes too, just to be sure you’re singing the words to the right songs.

That’s it. For now. 3 cool shows with Supertouch. Thanks Nürnberg, Lichtenstein and Essen. We had a blast. If you have the chance to see these guys, do so, they put on a great live set. We’ll put some proof of that (footage of the 3 shows) online on Some Will Never Know soon. Keep an eye on that.

So now we’re going to switch back to full-on-writing modus. Let’s see how far we can get with that full length we’re writing.

Aside from that we’re still looking for a show on the 2nd of April in the South of Denmark or the North of Germany (close to the border of Denmark) if anyone can hook us up (or if you know someone that might), please get in touch!

It’s been a year since our last shows in Germany, so we hope to see all of you there.

Now we only need that new Supertouch 7″. Apparently it’s on iTunes already. Mailman, come on, make our day!

January 2010 was all about recording the Weight Of The World EP. It wasn’t smooth sailing this time around though. Recording dates got pushed forward because of a change in schedule at the studio. In result we were less prepared. Then my voice died on me after the first song, leaving me to finish recording the songs in our rehearsalroom the week to follow. Nico mixed and mastered those songs on the road… Just to have it all done in time for our trip through Europe in March. But more bad luck was on our way. Although we made sure everything got at the pressing plant in time, the vinyl didn’t come in but after we did our trip. Shit happens, no matter how you plan it. We’re still glad with how that record came out though.

In February we broke the news that Joep, after 8 years (counting the pre-Said And Done days), was leaving the band. It was quite strange to break-up this line-up we were playing with for years now. But people change, priorities change and we all have to make choices. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. So we went searching for a new bassplayer right away.

We found one in the person of Toby pretty much right away, but first we had to play a final show with Joep. It took place at a local bar, ‘t Hert in Sint Anthonis, our hometown. It doesn’t get more local than that, does it? The show itself was ridicilous. Think dressing up, photo slideshow with photos of all the years, lots of confetti, fake-audience-tape, a discoball, bass-smashing etc. Needless to say we had a blast haha.

In March we went on an European trip again. The first shows with Toby on bass. You can read all about in the tourreport we did. In short that trip brought us both to new places and old friends. Meeting up with Carles (who booked our first trip abroad) and the guys in the Rezé / Nantes area is always a pleasure. This was no exception. It’s always exciting to see what awaits you in the next place. Sometimes you don’t expect much of it and the show is great (Valladolid for intance!). We went to some great cities this time, Madrid, Paris, Bordeaux… It was a good time all around.

In May we went to the UK. To finally release our 7″ and to hang out with the lads of Never Again. It was cool to meet up with the guys and play some kick-ass shows. Newport was off the hook (first time we played that Leeway cover) and chilling with Alex and Caroline in Nottingham was great too. London gave us the chance to see Pettybone (check them out people!) and made us feel at home with a lot of rain.

In August and September we played two cool shows at the Innocent. First up was the 25 years of Innocent show with Bitter End amongst others, we did a special cover set for that one, doing all the covers we did throughout the years. We also added Nirvana’s Aneurysm to the mix. Since Stef was about to become a daddy Goran filled in on guitar for him. In September we played with Blacklisted. Innocent has always been great to us, so it sucks to see it struggling at the moment. Let’s hope they pull through. It would be a shame to see another great venue go down the drain.

October marked the month we split ways with yet another bandmember. Remco decided he wanted to focus on other things in his life at this point. So it goes. We’ve been playing for years in the same line-up and all of a sudden we’re down two members. Such a strange year. Luckily we got a good replacement pretty quick again. Goran, mentioned above for filling on guitar, stepped in.

In November we went back to the UK again. The first shows with Goran on guitar. Making a stop first in Belgium, we went on to Leeds to bang our heads to Ark of The Covenant and play the Carry The Weight fest the day after. Seeing Wardogs open the show and witnessing the end of Never Again. Such a shame that band had to quit. It was great to see all these Carry The Weight related bands play live though. Tomas and Pat build something great in such a short amount of time. That trip also featured the release of my zine, Some Will Never Know #2. Glad to finally have that out.

That brings us to December in which we gave you all a christmas present right? We uploaded all our releases to BandCamp. Giving you the opportunity to stream all our songs for free and download them for whatever you think they’re worth. It’s the digital age baby.

And that brings us to the end. Looking back it’s good to see we didn’t slow down much, even with replacing two bandmembers. So what’s next?

2011

We started Said And Done in 2006, so we’ll be around for 5 years in 2011. Time flies while having fun. In January we’ll be playing 3 shows with Supertouch in Germany. Did everyone hear the previews of that new 7″? Shit is insane. Really looking forward to that. Hope to see you all in Nürnberg, Lichtenstein and/or Essen! Then in March we’ll be leaving for a trip to the colder parts of Europe. Hitting Denmark, Sweden and Finland (and Germany again) together with Upright from Finland. That’s all we know so far. Aside from that we’re mainly focusing on writing new songs. We’re working hard on a full-length that we want to record and release somewhere in 2011. Not much to report on that, aside from the fact I guess we’re about half way and the new stuff rocks. ROCK.

So yeah, 2010 might have been bad on a political level, for us it was great, bring on 2011!

“Last Christmas, I gave you my heart…” Stop. There are a couple good Christmas tunes out there, but enough is enough right? We’ll try to help a bit, following the good example of Antillectual, we’ve uploaded our releases to BandCamp. So you can blast through these ‘cozy times’. So what does that mean? In short, you can listen to all our releases for free, as much as you want. It also means you can download all releases (aside from Weight Of The World, we’ll probably add that one later) for whatever price you think it’s worth. If you think it’s worth an 4 euro (The first 60 cent of your donation will go directly to PayPal / BandCamp), you’ll enter that, if you think it’s worth nothing… You know how it works right? 2011 Scandinavian tourdates with Upright

We also posted the tourdates of our 2011 Scandinavian trip with Upright will have us on the road from the 24th of March until the 3rd of April. Check out the shows section to see if we come anywhere near you. All the shows are booked, but we do have a free date on Saturday the 2nd of April (without Upright). We’re looking for a show in the Copenhagen area of Denmark or near the border in Germany or Denmark. So if you can help us out, or know someone that might? Get in touch! Needless to say we’re really looking forward to this, it’s going to be new territory for us. A tourflyer/poster should follow soon.

When we arrived there was no PA and it wasn’t even sure the show was still happening. Welcome to the UK haha. Nah, Callum did great and fixed it. Luckily it went on as it was a good show. Small room, just like we love it. Ark Of The Covenant played and the place exploded. We were headbanging.

Awesome fest. Great atmosphere all day and great bands were playing. That and cool hang outs with people we don’t see often enough. A fest done, like everything else Carry The Weight is doing at the moment, the right way. Too bad it also meant we had to say goodbye to Never Again. That band was going places.

Tomorrow (Saturday the 20th of November) we’ll be playing our last show of the year. It will be at the De Onderbroek (Yes, that’s the underpants for all the non-Dutch speaking people) and I guess that will be the first show in the new line-up in the Netherlands. BE/UK weekender

Visiting Belgium and the UK: the excitement…

So at the beginning of the month we went to Belgium and the UK again. First shows in the new line-up. Joep (our former bassplayer) tagged along as well. Almost like old times. We’ll have some footage up soon, for now you’ll have to do with the lamest pictures we could find of the trip. Waiting, waiting, traffic-jams, the ferry and sleeping. The excitement.  In short:  Meeting the Clinckemaillie brothers again, Black Haven, releasing SWNK #2, afterparty, AFTERPARTY (think terrible songs, stupid dancing and drinking on a stage), sleeping, driving, ferry, Leeds, Callum and Jonny, Ark Of The Covenant, invasion of dressed up girls, drinking, sleeping, driving, Canterbury, Carry The Weight, Tomas, Pat, lads, Wardogs, more Ark Of The Covenant (they’re looking for a manager hehe), Never Again R.I.P., lots of people, moshing, naked guy, driving, ferry, sleeping, unloading etc. etc. Unlike the above pictures show we had a great time. Again. Oh and an extra shout out to Your Mum Tourbooking to hook us up with a van again.

Up next

Until the shows with Supertouch in Germany in January we’ll be focusing on writing new songs. One of those, although it might change a bit, we already busted out live.
The dates for the March / April trip through Finland, Sweden etc will be up by the end of the year. New demotapes by then? We’ll see. Maybe.

Today it’s time to leave. Needless to say we’re looking forward to the trip.

These are the first shows we’ll be playing in the new line-up (with Goran on guitar). Give him a warm welcome people, make him feel at home.

First up is the show in Lendelede, organised by the Clinckemaillie brothers. Our first time in Belgium since March, it’s been a while. Did you check out that new Black Haven track? Different, but damn good. Looking forward to hearing that.

The day after we’re heading to the UK again. We’ve been there in May already, but when Carry The Weight unfolded their plans for their showcase we simply couldn’t refuse. So we booked ourselves a show in Leeds to make it a proper weekender. Leeds is a first time for us. We’ll be driving all day to get there. Cold Snap has pulled out but we’ll be headbanging to Ark Of The Covenant anyway. Last time they did a great Arkangel cover.

To close off the weekend with a bang we’re playing Carry The Weight Fest in Canterbury. We’ve never been there either, but who cares. Cornered & Ironclad pulled out and Ripped To Shreds was replaced by Wardogs (so going to pick up a demo!). Aside from that we’re looking forward to see those clean cut guys from Never Again again again again again, playing their final set. Deal With It releasing their new (great!) record, French Rob’s The Hard Way, Rot In Hell (siked for the mid-set interval!) etc. etc. Just too much to mention.

Oh and to all you zineheads: Pim’s Some Will Never Know #2 is finished and we’ll have it with us on the road. Will be the first chance to pick it up. After this weekend a proper announcement will follow and we’ll put it in our online distro. So keep an eye on that.

“Third Wave” – ‘new’ song online

With the current political situation in the Netherlands, we thought it was fitting to upload “Third Wave” from the Weight Of The World 7” now. Lyrically inspired by “Die Welle” (or “The Wave”) and the “Third Wave” experiment it paints a picture that hopefully doesn’t get too familiar in the nearby future. While the signs show otherwise, let’s hope we did learn from our past. You can listen to it at any of the social networks listed below. The 7” is still available directly from our website, Carry The Weight in the UK or Interpunk if you live in the USA.

Lineup changes

Some of you probably already know but Remco’s leaving the band. No juicy details or fights this time either. We only want to thank him for the good times and wish him all the best with whatever he’s going to do next. His final show will be at the Bunker in Gemert on the 24th of October. In Brabant. We didn’t had to look too far for a replacement. Goran, who went with us on a couple of trips already (and replaced Stef at the 25 Years Innocent show) is our new guitar player. You might know him from his other band, Make Them Suffer, too.

In November we’ve got a trip to the UK coming up again, making a stop in Belgium too:

Aside from that we’ll be searching for the light in January when we’re playing some shows with Supertouch in Germany. In the meantime we’re focusing on writing for a full length. The stuff we’ve got so far is pretty diverse. No boundaries.
